As per the Airport Manual, carry on baggage is considered to be unchecked baggage which is entirely the responsibility of the passenger who is transporting it, being that the sum total of the dimensions (height, width and length), cannot exceed 45 inches and its weight cannot exceed 11lbs.

Always attentive, VARIG advises you of these limits to help you better orient yourself when organizing your carry-on bags. Here are some examples:

Handbag, suitcase or equipment which can be accommodated underneath the passenger’s seat or in the aircraft’s compartment, with consideration of the dimensions;

  • An overcoat;
  • Blanket or wrap;
  • Umbrella or cane;
  • Laptop and/or binoculars;
  • Reading material for the trip;
  • A bassinet, or equivalent, for carrying infants, that can be transported in the cargo compartment free of charge.

Note: We recommend to all passengers that medicine, jewelry, money, important documents, legal papers, keys, cell phones (turned off), accessories or other fragile and valuable objects should be carried in carry-on bags, always observing size limits.
